lyrics

Life-cycles, flowing through time
Creatures, they come and go
Make their way, from dark to light

The more, the merrier?
A myth, how canonical
More destruction, raised infection
Obviously sequential

Standing to welcome the sun
the day breaks on the valley
So it’s been a billion times before

Misty dew, livid tan
Ingrained rust in the alleys
Rooftops green
With moss’s kin of yore

Erode and decay
All wither away
Between the dusk
and the long-awaited dawn

Oblivious
The dutiful
The puppets
Who won’t end the stasis

This landscape bleeds grey

Biding time as day and night
Push and pull, on and on
Counting on the wilderness
To halt what evolution spawn

Washing the filth from earth
Waning our gift from birth
Encased in a solemn swell
Embracing the sulk, the sin

Oh how they feared
Oh just how real
Just as foreseen
Their fate must be reeled away
The merciful
The meagre
The mindless

Restrained by the static

Thousands of footsteps
An imprint of life
Bathed by the sunlight
Til’ the beckoning of the night

Wiped away
By the making of wind and rain
Nothing prevails
All the traces, now erased

Is it time itself that we await?
Our will severely underestimate?
In the anamnesis of prophets, we gaze
All that we make is meant to fall from grace

From straws, once lit fire to survive
And live through the sundown of ancient times
Constructs, pillars of our identity
Footnotes that vaguely showcase reality

Hail life of old
Clings for us pure
Bring us beyond
Close to our core

Life to flourish on a wretched canvas
Roots below wreck a karst anew
As steel and stone are crooked by our madness
Much like droplets downward we accrue

Stepped away from the chain
Tenure is our nature
We sow to remain
Now we’ve gone astray

A crossroads for our devolving primate race
Carving an etching in the history of time and space
Children of stardust, our sheen now fades
Cinders and embers paint a picture of our remains

Hopeful are the wicked for a pleasant relay
Somber be the restless ‘til the reckoning day
Forlorn in the clutches of whatever may
Spoiling is our history from the fields to the bay

The resolve of the masses
A parade of ashes renders
Homes wholly lifeless
Husks, musk of broken promises

From shorelines to barrens
The cracks of relentless tremors
A march that shakes the shallows
Clamoring roar that rattles oceans below

Peaks rose from the oceans
Islands wrought to mountains
Arctic plains and glaciers
Frostbite’s mound grips them all
Scorch, dust the hourglass ticks on undisturbed

Millions of foot stomps
Callously stride
Stealing the sunshine
For the better of their lives
Strive to stay
Wreaking havoc in land and sea
Disgrace, they came
To seize the day as they dug their grave

From straws, once lit fire to survive
The ways of tradition, eclipsing all ambition
Glistening stars, fading into an eclipse
Scorched embers, our remains through time and space
